Escrowe.com FAQ

Who is responsible for taxes, customs, and import fees?

Typically the seller is responsible, however under the "agreement stage" you can negotiate the expenses and who should pay for what. This also applies for Escrow fees.

What if the Seller does not ship the item(s)?

If the seller does not ship the item(s) he will not recieve payment until the buyer has confirmed reciept of shipment. This prevents fraudalent sellers from shipping "mystery" goods. Goods that don't actually exist but say they do.

Should I insure the item?

It is highly recommended that it is insured as you are liable for any shipping damages. If the shipping company has shipped over 100 items and has a perfect record then the risk decreases and the need for insurance decreases, but for inexperienced shippers it is recommended.

When does the Seller ship the items?

As soon as payment is recieved from the buyer, the seller is notified to release the shipment.

What is the verification process of "good funds" or "secured funds"?

When you purchase a product at a store with a check or credit card, you are promising that the money is available in your account. The store doesn't receive the money for another 3 to 7 days. When you use a check it works exactly the same way. To ensure payment, the Escrow service provider waits until the money is deposited into its trust account, which is then considered "good funds." This takes longer, but gives Buyers and Sellers a high level of security.

Can I use escrow for items like domain names?

Absolutely, it is highly recommended that escrow is used for this type of transaction. It guarantees the buyer access to the domain login information to ensure passwords and functionality is competent to the sellers descriptions. This prevents fraudalent domain name purchases. You can also use escrow for patents, trademarks and other intellectual property sales.

How long does the escrow process take?

The length of time for the escrow process is dependant on stage 1 and the "agreement stage" and the method of payment. In the agreement it is stated how long the inspection period is and what method of shipping will be used. If you use a credit card to pay it will substantially save time versus a check or money order. Most escrow purchases are processed within five days to two weeks.

Are international sales or purchases allowed?

Absolutely, it depends on the escrow provider, but most of the time they can process international transactions. They may require you to pay in the currency of the listed item.
